Lectoure shared his experience in terms of attractiveness linked to his digital image during a conference which took place in Paris.
During a conference in Paris at the end of December, the theme of which was “Small towns, take care of your digital image to strengthen your attractiveness”, the town of Lectoure was invited to share its experience with other towns in France. Lectoure was represented at this event by Kossa Camara, head of the communications department, who presented the city's strategy in terms of attractiveness. He spoke of the intense work carried out over the past two years to professionalize municipal communication in a town of 4,000 inhabitants, work which has made it possible to go from 2,000 followers on Facebook in October 2022 to 7,500 followers in December 2024 and on Instagram, from 73 subscribers to 1,400 followers. The city has decided, in 2023, to be present on TikTok to interest young people. This activity makes Lectoure the 2nd connected city in the Gers, behind Auch, in terms of territorial attractiveness.
The photos and videos dealing with the heritage of Lectoure and the numerous videos on the merchants of the city center were praised by the Banque des Territoires. The first edition of the photography competition launched in April 2024 received “a very favorable response”.
Heading towards 2025
Kossa Camara recalled the desire of the city of Lectoure, winner of the “Small Cities of Tomorrow” program, to “consolidate commercial dynamism with its significant turnover. The city's communication supports this desire by giving a voice to economic actors of the territory”. He recalled that in December 2023, the “Flowering Towns and Villages” label was awarded to the city for its actions to promote plant heritage and local know-how.
In 2025, this desire for dual commercial and heritage promotion will be accentuated. The objective is to cover all businesses in the city center, including restaurants. “Because today we live in a world of images, the town of Lectoure intends to maintain a level of quality and make some investments in equipment to conquer Occitanie and other regions.”
