Be careful if you have an Ikea “Koppla” type electrical adapter. The Swedish firm launched a recall notice in Switzerland this Monday because its product presents a risk of electrocution.

The defective products consist of “Grounded/White CH, part number E1523F-1 CH-EU AD, with a manufacturing date ranging from 2335 (AASS) (inclusive), to 2437 (AASS) (inclusive)” . This number is written on the socket. Ikea specifies that other serial numbers are not affected by this recall.

White electrical adapter with '2423' and 'QC PASSED 8' visible on the base.

It’s the adapter housing that’s the problem. This can break in two and thus cause a potential electrocution.

Users of these products are asked to stop using them and return them directly to an Ikea store, where they will be refunded in full without the need to present a receipt.

Further information is available at ikea.ch or toll-free number 0800 000 007.
