The President of the National Assembly of Senegal, Malick Ndiaye, reiterated on Monday his commitment to promoting constructive dialogue between Parliament and the executive. According to him, this rapprochement is essential to carry out the reforms promised to citizens. The information was relayed by the APS during a New Year greeting ceremony.

During this event which took place in front of the National Assembly, accompanied by a raising of the national colors, Mr. Ndiaye insisted on the need for optimal facilitation in exchanges between parliamentary and governmental authorities. He spoke of his determination to spare no effort to improve legislative practices.

In his speech, he expressed his desire to upgrade the status and efficiency of deputies, with emphasis on strengthening logistical resources, improving IT tools and parliamentary assistance. The objective, he insists, is to rehabilitate the image of parliamentary work within Senegalese public opinion.

Almost a month after the installation of the office of the 15th legislature, Malick Ndiaye nourishes the hope of significantly strengthening the voice of Parliament. He recalls that this institution remains the central place where laws and budgets are voted on, thus requiring rigorous control and evaluation of the actions of the executive to guarantee the general interest.

He also assured the parliamentarians present of his role as guarantor of democratic balance and expressed his confidence in their support. The President of the National Assembly also emphasized the importance of promoting active parliamentary diplomacy. According to him, this approach will help build bridges between people and strengthen exchanges in key strategic areas such as education, health and security.

Looking to the future, he said that by 2025, Senegal aims to develop constructive relations with other democracies. Aïssata Tall Sall, president of the Takku Wallu Senegal parliamentary group, welcomed this vision and promised the loyal support of her group. The president of the Pastef group, Mouhamed Ayib Daffé, for his part underlined the importance of this ceremony which marks an increased desire for communication within the National Assembly.

The declarations of these leaders, reported by our colleagues from the APS, illustrate a positive dynamic aimed at strengthening the credibility and effectiveness of the parliamentary institution in Senegal.
