Belgian Cup: Genk very strained to go to Saint-Trond on Tuesday

Genk’s short winter preparation in Spain is over. Thorsten Fink’s players notably prepared for the cup derby in Sint-Truiden, which will see Jarne Steuckers and Matte Smets return to Stayen.

For the Cup derby on Tuesday, coach Thorsten Fink may have to do without not only Sor, but also Cuesta (injured hip). El Ouahdi, who had to leave training on Saturday due to a painful neck strain, was already back at full strength on Sunday. Van Crombrugge, Karetsas and Adedeji-Sternberg have also returned to training.

Top scorer Arokodare, absent on Sunday as a precaution, is expected on Monday for the final session before the derby, which will take place on the synthetic pitch of the Jos Vaessen Talent Academy. The team will return in the morning from Alicante to reach Antwerp.

New training center

On the sidelines of this winter training camp, President Peter Croonen announced excellent news for Genk fans: the foundation stone of the first team’s new training complex will be officially laid at the end of January.
