In one of his videos, “Doualemn”, which has more than 138,000 subscribers on the social network TikTok, notably called for the murder of demonstrators mobilized on January 1 against the Algerian regime.
The mayor of Montpellier, Michaël Delafosse, himself took legal action for “incitement to hatred” after the publication of this video. “Incitement to hatred is an offense, and as such, there is no doubt about this video, I am making a report under article 40 of the Penal Code to the judicial authority of Montpellier”wrote the editor on Saturday afternoon on X.
In a press release sent to France 3 Occitanie, the prosecution announced that it had “Immediately referred the Montpellier police station for an investigation into the charge of public and direct provocation and no follow-up to commit a crime.” Investigations are ongoing, according to Moune Mercan, deputy prosecutor of Montpellier.
