Invited on the set of the WAM show, the Ivorian chef, Zeinab Bancé, recent winner of the Guiness Record, spoke about a controversy that has been circulating about her for several days.
Indeed, the young woman has officially spoken out about the rumors surrounding her origins, giving a clear response.
Sometimes identified as Burkinabé because of her last name, the young woman also faced speculation that Bancé was not her surname, but rather her married name.
During her interview on the set of WAM, Zeinab Bancé then chose to clarify opinions on every detail of this controversy, which she considers of no real importance.
A response through which the Ivorian chef, without repressing her origins, proclaimed her belonging to the Ivory Coast.
“Frankly, I think that this story of ‘she is Ivorian or she is not’, we must be able to move beyond that. Because we are African above all.
No one denies their origins, but me, I was born in Ivory Coast, I grew up in Ivory Coast and all my parents are in Ivory Coast”she revealed.
And to continue: “My husband is not Banked, I have my father’s name. I have lived all my life in Côte d’Ivoire, and I do not know any other country than Côte d’Ivoire.
If the president (Alassane Ouattara, editor’s note) even called me under the name of compatriot (during his New Year’s speech, editor’s note), who will say anything else? I am Ivorian ».
This release from Zeinab Bancé should definitively put an end to speculation about its origins.
