Ziguinchor, January 4 (APS) – Strategic places and axes in the commune of Ziguinchor (south), such as the camp of the Mobile Intervention Group (GMI) Sonar, the War Memorial, the port of Ziguinchor were taken assault from the early hours of Saturday morning, by citizens and defense and security forces who carried out cleaning activities there, as part of the eighth edition of the national cleaning day ”Setal Sunu Réew”, noted the APS.
”The military and paramilitary bodies came to the city’s regional hospital, in a surge of solidarity to contribute to improving the living and working environment of the staff of this health structure,” greeted the commander from military zone number 5, Colonel Yakhya Diop.
“We can say with what we have just seen today in Ziguinchor that the armed forces are committed to contributing to improving the living and working environment for the staff of the Ziguinchor regional hospital,” he added.
The commander of military zone number 5 spoke at the launch of the activities of the eighth edition of the National Cleanup Day “Setal Sunu Réew” entrusted to the Armed Forces.
He thanked “all the paramilitary bodies who came today to the regional hospital of Ziguinchor with a remarkable surge of solidarity”, before inviting the populations to once again take responsibility for the cleanliness of the their environment.
Focused on the theme “Setal sa gokh, aar sa yaaram: alongside citizens, the armed forces are committed”, the eighth edition of the national clean-up day “Setal Sunu Réew” in Ziguinchor was chaired by the deputy to the governor in charge of development, Alsény Bangoura. It recorded a strong mobilization of defense and security forces and youth and women’s movements.
“The military corps gathered at the Ziguinchor regional hospital with a strong mobilization of youth and women’s movements, in short from all segments of the population to celebrate this day of human investment,” greeted Mr. Bangoura.
In Bignona, the health center and the military camp were cleaned, as well as in Oussouye, where the military camp, the church and the health center were also the subject of sanitation activities, including other sites.
On Friday, military zone No. 5 organized a blood donation day as a prelude to this 8th edition of National Clean Up Day.
