The President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, formalized, in collaboration with Ousmane Sonko, the appointment of eight (8) new members within the National Audiovisual Regulatory Council (CNRA). Among those chosen is Aoua Bocar Ly-Tall, a sociologist whose rise within this institution sparked heated controversy, particularly within the ranks of Pastef.
This appointment did not fail to provoke criticism, especially from certain Pastef activists, who point the finger at the sociologist’s past positions under the old regime. Among the most critical voices is Landing Diémé, a party activist, who expressed his discontent on social media. According to him, Aoua Bocar Ly-Tall embodies a questionable choice on the part of President Diomaye and the ruling party.

“Aoua Bocar Ly-Tall appointed to the CNRA. A new Samba Ndiaye? Sometimes, we have the impression that there are people at the top of the state who are working for the failure of the project or who are trying to upset the Patriots. President Diomaye cannot know everyone, but those who suggest certain names to him know these people well,” he said. The criticisms are fueled by accusations concerning the previous positions of Aoua Bocar Ly-Tall, in particular with regard to her positions on Sonko’s regionalist speech, which she would have considered inappropriate.
