Matam, Jan 5 (APS) – The deputy governor of Matam (north), in charge of Development, Tafsir Baba Anne, welcomed, on Saturday, the commitment of the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) in the success of the 8th edition of National Clean Up Day.
“I salute the commitment of the Defense and Security Forces who spared no effort to make this day a success. It was led by the Ministry of the Armed Forces, whose elements have been mobilized since Friday in several citizen activities,” he said.
The local administrative authority spoke at the launch of the cleaning day in the presence of MP Banta Wagué and the directors of health establishments.
Cleaning activities were carried out in the Matam regional hospital and the Ourossogui regional hospital center.
Free consultations and blood donations were also organized at the Ourossogui military camp and at the city’s hospital center.
These actions aim to “supply the Ourossogui blood bank”, according to the deputy governor, who praised the mobilization of the FDS who have accomplished an “excellent job”.
“They are committed to beautifying and cleaning the chosen sites. Alongside this, they organized reforestation activities. Given the advance of the desert, these types of activities are beneficial, because planting a tree is a powerful act,” underlined Tasfir Baba Anne.
The deputy governor also invited the population to perpetuate these activities, through citizen engagement, outside of just national cleaning days.
