A logo to be sure you have the right cable.
History repeats itself. A year ago, I made the classic mistake of installing a “standard” HDMI cable in my walls to connect my home theater. Result ? Impossible to take full advantage of my installation in 4K 120 Hz.

HDMI 2.2: here’s what 96 Gbps of bandwidth can do
With the arrival of HDMI 2.2 and its Ultra96 cable, we may have an ultimate solution.
A cable that can do it all
The HDMI Forum has just announced a new specification at CES 2025. HDMI 2.2 offers a record bandwidth of 96 Gbit/s, almost double the previous generation.
The numbers are dizzying: 4K at 480 Hz, 8K at 240 Hz, and even 10K at 120 Hz.
Manufacturers justify this development by the increase in the size of screens and the emergence of new uses, such as VR. However, the content market is still struggling to keep up, with an almost non-existent 8K offering.
Currently, even 4K 120 Hz remains under-exploited due to a lack of suitable content. This race for performance is strangely reminiscent of that of megapixels in digital photography: impressive on paper, but not always relevant in practice.
In any case, there is now a cable with a clear nomenclature. And that’s a big change.
Marketing is planned for the first half of 2025, but be careful: your entire audiovisual system will need to be HDMI 2.2 compatible to benefit from it. A transition that may take several years.
