The winter sales will begin in France this Wednesday, January 8, 2025, but among our Belgian neighbors, it’s already a waltz of labels, with discounts of up to 50, even 70% from the first day! Enough to attract customers, in a context of declining purchasing power. Example in Tournai, about twenty kilometers from Lille.

A few days ahead of France, Belgium launched its winter sales this Friday, January 3, 2025. The reductions are already very significant and consumers are there.
Chantal comes from Flines-lez-Raches in the North. She did not hesitate to travel 30 kilometers to benefit from it: “It’s a habit, and I’m not working now, so I’m taking advantage. I do both, Belgium and France.”
From the first day, those who have crossed the border benefit from already very attractive discounts, of up to 50, even 70%. This customer is delighted: “They’re starting strong, the prices are already attractive”. And his neighbor adds: “For example, for this article, we went from 55 euros to 14 euros.”
A little further on, a young father says: “It’s mostly clothes for the little one. It was 15 euros and it goes to 7.50. It’s good, with this period of inflation, it’s worth it, I think!”
I came back to the country to do the sales, a little prerequisite before France.
A Belgian customer who lives in France.
Some Belgians living in France come back especially for this occasion, as this client explains: “I noticed that the sales in Belgium started much earlier, so I took the opportunity to try to get the best offers and sizes. I came back to the country to do the sales, a little prerequisite before France.”
For Belgian stores, the period is important. In this shoe store, 70% of the customers are French. “We already had French people on Thursday, but it wasn’t yet the sales for us, so we had a lot of unhappy people.” specifies Amandine Ansart, store manager.
Same echo a little further away in a clothing store, run by Alyssa Marlot: “We always have more French people, especially from the Lille metropolis, people from the North who come to Belgium more easily.”
For the French who were unable to make the trip, a little more patience. With us, the sales start on Wednesday January 8 and end on Tuesday February 4, 2025.
