The first flakes are expected at nightfall. Thirty departments in the north-east of France should be placed on vigilance orange snow ice, this Saturday January 4, 2025 by Météo France.
The snow and ice should arrive via Picardy: the Oise, then the Somme and the Aisne. A little later, they should affect the Nord and Pas-de-Calais, around 11 p.m.
Météo France details: “following a cold air mass widespread throughout Hauts-de-France, a disturbance arrives at the end of the day, associated with significantly milder air, which sweeps the region from the southwest to northeast. The meeting of these two air masses leads to winter precipitation, initially in the form of a generally brief episode of snow, quickly followed by a more notable evolution into freezing rain..
Météo France describes the meteorological event as“winter episode requiring particular vigilance”. Precipitation is expected to occur as snow initially. The heights on the ground should not exceed 1 cm and locally, 1 to 3 cm on the relief of Pas-de-Calais.
Météo France warns of the risk of freezing rain during the night from Saturday to Sunday January 5, 2025.
