After 13 years as a player at Stade Français, the club announces that former hooker Mathieu Blin is now joining the Roses staff.
In an official press release, Stade Français announced that its former hooker Mathieu Blin, now rugby consultant for Canal +, would join the staff of the Ile-de-France club. After spending thirteen seasons between 1997 and 2010 as a player, he will bring his expertise to the scrum sector until the end of the 2024/2025 season.
The position had been vacant since the departure of former Georgian prop Davit Zirakashvili, who came in once a week for scrum training. Zirakashvili left the club at the start of the season in solidarity with coach Karim Ghezal, from whom Stade Français parted ways at the end of September and who has since joined Lyon as head coach. Stade Français prop Paul Alo-Emile temporarily assumed this role at the start of the season, when he was unavailable due to a shoulder injury.
“Mathieu will thus support the current staff in this essential sector of conquest with a consulting role. He will intervene weekly with the professional team, only during training sessions and without being present on match days. the club said.
With two consecutive defeats in the championship, Stade Français in 14 days, swept by Bordeaux-Bègles at home (46-19) on Saturday for the 14th day of the Top 14, ranks in a worrying 13th place just with seven points ahead of the relegated Vannes.
