Fresh snow, mild weather and ideal winter conditions. Something to delight tourists who come to spend the winter holidays in Avoriaz, in Haute-Savoie.
“It was great, we had sun all week. We would have liked a little more snow, but it arrived last night. We really had a good time“, rejoices a Danish tourist.
“For 15 days, we have had blue skies, good snow and everything is going well!” adds another skier on vacation.
So obviously, there are people on the slopes, but also on the terrace. Which doesn't displease Tom Pollien, co-manager of a bar located at the bottom of the slopes. “We're super happy, we've never had so much snow so we're clearing snow early in the morning, we're serving our customers with a smile and we're off to a great 2025 season!” he congratulates himself.
On the rental side, one of the resort's agencies estimates having rented almost all of the 350 accommodations during the holidays.
This season, the calendar was favorable with the holidays placed in the middle of the week and a “snow effect” which was felt: “We see that after the last snowfall which took place at the beginning of December, we had a boost in reservations with an increase of 6% over the last month, explains Camille Torte, director of the Avoriaz tourist office. After the snowfall, we even observed an increase in traffic on the website which increased by more than 40%.
In the station, the occupancy rate even exceeded 95% for the week of the New Year, allowing the station to beat its attendance record.
