MC Solaar enchants the Agenais

A sold-out Ducourneau theater welcomes MC Solaar on April 19. The monument of French rap spoke for almost two hours to the Agen public. He performs his biggest hits (“Caroline”, “Victime de la mode” or even “Qui seme le vent reaps the tempo”), but also his latest titles like “Ils dansent” and “Modernidad”, from his album “ Triptych: Celestial lights”. The concert is intended to be full of emotions, and the musicians have enjoyed real success with a loyal audience over the years.

Chimène Badi returns to Villeneuve

For the last concert of her tour in tribute to Edith Piaf, Chimène Badi returns to her land of Villeneuve-sur-Lot. She performs on the stage of the Georges-Leygues theater on June 7 in front of a packed house, and crosses the rich repertoire of the legend of French music. His qualities as a performer provoke strong emotion in the public, who do not hesitate to give several “standing ovations”. The mayor, Guillaume Lepers, even invites himself to the party by offering a bouquet of flowers to the village child.

Garorock focuses on diversity

The 28th edition of the Marmandais festival is “the most homogeneous since 2019”, according to Ludovic Larbodie, the artistic director. Many styles are on the program with rock (The Offspring, Shaka Ponk…), electro (Calvin Harris, Kungs…), rap (PLK and Josman) and pop (Charlotte Cardin and the Empress). Australian DJ Timmy Trumpet stands out with an energetic performance and covers of Johnny Hallyday and Jean-Jacques Goldman. The Filhole plain welcomes nearly 120,000 visitors from June 27 to 30.

Nérac gets in the mood for the Albret Jazz Festival

On September 6 and 7, Nérac swings to the rhythm of the Albret Jazz Festival. André Manoukian covers the most beautiful songs of Serge Gainsbourg, the Cuban Ana Carla Maza delivers a breathtaking performance, while Mamz'elle Bee and her boys immerse the spectators in the 1940s. Without forgetting Earth Wind & Fire Experience, a group created by former members of the authors of “September”, who impress the Neracais as much by their stage performance as by their great appetite behind the scenes.

The Frantic Rollers still in good shape

One of the oldest French rock groups, the Frantic Rollers, played one of their last concerts in Agen on September 15 at the Tannerie d'Agen space. Composed of Gilles Mora (vocals and guitar), Danny Roulleaux (bass), François Devismes (lead guitar), Claude Sentuc (drums), Jean-Marc Mazet (piano), this band of musicians was born in 1960. At the end of This summer, they cover hits from the 50s by legendary singers: Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, Carl Perkins… Always with the same rock'n'roll spirit.

The FFF ignites Florida

The FFF group, French Federation of Fonck, is making its big return to Florida in Agen on October 17 after having performed in concert in this legendary venue in the early 90s. Only Yarol Poupaud returned in 2018 to taste the Agen scene with his group Black Minou. The former guitarist of Johnny Hallyday has lost none of his speed, nor the passion of his riffs. With his musical acolytes and charismatic lead singer Marco Prince, they ignite Florida and reconnect with their early fans.

Record attendance for the Michel-Serres meetings

The Michel-Serres philosophical meetings, organized from November 8 to 11, once again attract great people this year: Jacques Attali, Claude Onesta, Flavie Flament and Raphaël Glucksmann among others. With the theme “Now we make peace”, to fit with current events. The story of Annick Kayitesi-Jozan, a survivor of the genocide in Rwanda when she was only 14 years old, moves visitors and remains a poignant moment of the event. With 13,000 tickets sold, the festival broke its audience record.
