The rector noted that “the person concerned did not prepare for lessonsthus demonstrating a lack of involvement and seriousness in the exercise of one's duties“, begins the administrative court of Lille, in a judgment dated November 15, 2024 which has just been made public. The teacher at the Arras and Beaurains schools was also criticized for not having “given no school work for its students » on October 17, 2019… even though she was visited the same day by the academy inspector.

A “lack of authority” and an “absence of classroom management”

This “casualness” was combined with an “absence of class management” and a “lack of authority”, which was “likely to create an insecure, anxiety-provoking and stressful context for the students”. She also had the habit of not ensuring supervision of students in class, in the playground and during physical education and sports sessions.

“If the applicant partially recognizes her organizational and class management difficulties, she nevertheless did not seek advice from either the directors or her colleagues,” rector Valérie Cabuil further supported. “Nor did she follow their advice when they tried to help her, minimizing her mistakes and blaming them on third parties. »

“She adopts a inappropriate attitude by not placing students in an effective learning situation and does not see the need to establish a climate conducive to learning through prepared and thought-out teaching,” finally asserted the representative of National Education in the region.

But “if certain facts are likely to be qualified as disciplinary faults, the general attitude of the professor nevertheless demonstrates her inability to correctly accomplish the missions assigned to her grade, while the National Education Inspector specified in his report that she did not master the skills expected of a school teacher”, finds the administrative court of Lille.

The facts therefore fell under “professional insufficiency”, a specific procedure which differs from the disciplinary procedure… The judges therefore ordered the “ reintegration » of the teacher by January 15, 2025, with retroactive effect to June 16, 2021 for the calculation of his remuneration and retirement rights.

The rector of the Lille academy has until this date to appeal.
