The motorist checked in Nîmes on December 30 no longer had a driving license and was subject to a travel ban in Gard
Nourdine wanted to return home to Nîmes on December 30. He no longer had points on his driving license and fled on foot when the police wanted to check him. This thirty-year-old was also the subject of a five-year residence ban in Gard and Hérault after being sentenced to three years in prison for drug trafficking in 2023. Which did not help his case.
“I wanted to go home. It was to see my wife and children. My wife called me and asked me to change a light bulb at home”defends this thirty-year-old. His wife and children still live in Nîmes. Nourdine, after serving his sentence, had to move to another department.
“I have a studio in another department. But financially, I can't do it. I live on the RSA. And it's complicated to get other accommodation”defends the defendant who was tried on December 31 by the Nîmes criminal court. “I have two children, my wife is pregnant. And my mother's health is complicated. I had made a request for modification concerning the inadmissibility of territory. I submitted it to the Post Office… I wanted to see my wife, my children and my mother, that's all.”says Nourdine.
“There was no emergency that justified him driving this vehicle,” declared the representative of the Nîmes public prosecutor's office who requested 14 months in prison. “We can hear his explanations. The sentence required is excessive”protests Me Laurence Aguilar, the defendant's lawyer.
“If we keep Mr. recalls the deputy prosecutor.
Nourdine was sentenced to 10 months in prison and returned to prison.
