The new year is often the time when we set good resolutions. While it is easy to set a goal, sticking to it is often very complicated.
These are promises we make to ourselves at the start of each year. “Stop smoking”, “take a little more care of yourself”, “travel, have fun”… Good resolutions sometimes difficult to implement or maintain over time. To get rid of bad habits in our heads, the challenge is significant: we will have to deprogram our brain.
“We generally operate in automatic mode. (…) If you disconnect this automatic mode, then with effort, your brain learns to resist these habitual automatisms”explains Olivier Houdé, professor of psychology at Paris Cité University. To do this, brain exercises are possible. The advice is not to set the bar too high. A good resolution must be “SMART”: specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time-bound. For 2025, the commitment is made: to set your mind in motion.
