Difficult to stand, or even take a photo. At Cap Blanc-Nez, the wind blows strongly on this first day of the year and can gust up to 110 km/h. Enough to capture these Belgian tourists who had never felt the wind with such power. “I’m having trouble breathing!”says a young man. “Everyone has to be a little careful. It's windy here. We're not used to having this much wind”his father tells us.
A little further on, on Calais beach, walkers seem to be swallowed up by the dunes. As for cyclists, when facing the wind, it is better to remain cautious. “You have to be really careful. That's why I put my feet on the ground. Because it doesn't work on a bike. There comes a time, you have to be reasonable”a cyclist tells us. But a gust of wind on the North Sea is always an invigorating spectacle. “It feels good. It gives us a lot of energy”confides a woman. “It's a bit refreshing. It's good. I love the sea”says another.

If the ferries sailed normally this morning, at Barneville-Carteret in the Manche department, this was not the case. “Too much wind, tide too strong. The sea is not beautiful and raging”a man tells us. The boats remained at the dock. Pierre-Henri had to cancel his first outing of the year. “Impossible because there is a lot of wind, as you can see. Whether the wind is southwest or east, we can quickly find ourselves in a fairly dangerous situation”he explains.
The wind will lose intensity this afternoon. But moving inland, the prefectures are calling on everyone to be vigilant.
