It's been almost a year since the waterfront radar was torn from its base. This is not the first time it has been vandalized, but usually it is quickly replaced. In Bastia, we have become accustomed to its absence, but for now, motorists remain cautious.

On the night of January 26 to 27, the radar which required motorists not to exceed 50 km/h was torn down and put out of service.
On the radar, tags, JA20 and CR20, which recalled the farmers' demonstration which took place during the day.
A year later, it still has not been replaced. On the side of the prefecture of Haute-Corse, we assure that this will indeed be the case, “there was a delay regarding the market [un marché national, pour un montant de 150.000 euros – NDLR]but the procedure is in progress”. No date has been brought forward.
It is difficult to know the consequences of the absence of radar on the behavior of motorists, since nothing is in place to measure it over time.
For Pierre, a resident of the Bastia region who comes to work in town every day, this hasn't changed much: “I always have the reflex to brake, even knowing that the radar is not there. You can never be too careful!”
Françoise Lippini, president of the Un Vélo Une Vie association, for her part, warns: “in the collective unconscious, people always tend to slow down, but if it is not remedied, people will eventually get into the habit of speeding up…”
