Chaired by the president of the chamber, Naji Fakhari, the assembly focused on the examination of several issues relating to the development of the craft sector and the improvement of the conditions of artisans in the region.

Speaking at the opening of this assembly, Naji Fakhari indicated that since his election, the new governing body has adopted a participatory and communication approach with the partners and stakeholders concerned, with the objective of implementing a plan for action meeting the expectations of professionals, particularly in terms of training, given its central role in promoting and strengthening skills.

The emphasis was placed, he said, on the development of apprenticeship training in service professions, the promotion of craft products on different marketing channels, particularly digital, and the support for the region’s craft cooperatives with regard to exports, a pillar of the Kingdom’s growth and a gateway to international markets.

The management office worked, in this context, with the services concerned to facilitate the export procedures for handicraft products while examining the difficulties that craftsmen face in terms of the scarcity of raw materials and their high cost, underlined Naji Fakhari, adding that the next sporting events that Morocco should host encourage all stakeholders to redouble their efforts to strengthen the influence of Moroccan craftsmanship.

After underlining the importance of the Fez-Meknes region in the development of crafts in the sense that it constitutes the locomotive of the sector at the national level, the wali of the region, governor of the prefecture of Fez, Mouaad El Jamai, indicated that efforts are being made to promote this sector, in particular through the creation of marketing spaces, the launch of support programs for cooperatives and the strengthening of training programs.

He made a point of recalling the place given to crafts in the regional development program (PDR) with the programming of a series of promising projects.

During this assembly, a partnership protocol was validated between the chamber and the Moroccan-Spanish association for economic, tourist and social development, a partnership agreement and delegated supervision of the project. support for the ecological development of traditional pottery kilns and the draft agreement relating to the implementation of the project to create a permanent regional crafts fair in Fez.

The session also saw the approval of draft agreements relating to the regional support program for trainees in the craft sector, and the training and skills building program, as well as an amendment to the partnership agreement for the construction of a craft complex in Sefrou and the modification of the internal regulations of the chamber.

The participants also followed the minutes of the work of the July 2024 session and the moral report of the October session before approving the chamber’s draft budget for 2025.
