The poster was enough to make all fans of table tennis : Alexis and Félix Lebrunstars Olympicsexpected in the Jura for a Pro A match between Jura Morez TT and the Agreement Nîmes Montpellier.
A meeting scheduled for Tuesday January 21, 2025et exceptionally delocalized in Dole, in the Espace Pierre-Talagrand, rather than at the Citadelle gymnasium in Morez.
More twist of theater : the Lebrun brothers will ultimately not be not in the game.
Why this relocation?
Philippe Girod, president of Jura Morez TT, had anticipated record attendance to accommodate the two French phenomena. Their popularity and their talent promised toattract a large audiencewell beyond table tennis enthusiasts. Unfortunately, Alexis and Félix Lebrun will not come in the Jura for this meeting, which will be played without them.
Direction Singapore for the Lebrun brothers
The reason? An essential sporting priority: the two champions will participate in the Singapore Grand Smashand prestigious tournament grouping the world elite table tennis. A logical decision for athletes of their scale, but a disappointment for spectators who hoped to see them in Dole.
A decisive issue for Jura Morez TT
Even without the Lebruns, this meeting remains crucial. After nine days of championship, the Entente Nîmes Montpellier is ahead of Jura Morez TT byjust one point in the standings. During the first leg, the Jurassiens had given a hard time to their opponents, only losing 3-2 thanks in particular to a brilliant victory by Aruna Quadri over Félix Lebrun.
The return match, scheduled for 7 p.m., could well be a turning point of the season. Ticketing details will be communicated soon.
