On January 14 from 9:55 p.m. (Metropole time, editor's note), Culturebox and the France.tv platform will offer a two-episode web series dedicated to Dance overseas.
In some cultures, dance is a vibrant energy that brings generations together. In the Overseas Territories, this practice occupies an essential place, both anchored in tradition and open to innovation.
The documentary web series “Outre-Mer Danse”, directed by Sarah Almosnino, invites us on a captivating journey to the heart of six overseas territories, through the eyes of young performers.
In this first episode, six artists share their unique vision of dance, boldly mixing traditional and contemporary styles. Here is an overview of the talents presented:
Mahé (Guadeloupe): Attached to its roots, Mahé sublimates traditional bèlè by integrating dance-hall influences. Her dance, unique and personal, testifies to her identity.
Awaii (New Caledonia): Breakdancing was for him a tool of personal affirmation. Today, he combines choreography and rap to share powerful messages.
Pawnee (Guyane) : Inspired by her Native American roots, she uses dance as a therapeutic art, to liberate and heal the body.
Claudio (Reunion): With his voice and his body, Claudio creates intuitive and multiple performances, reflecting his limitless artistic quest.
Max Loove (Martinique) : Ambassador of Rolento, he transmits his love of this Martinican dance through his classes and social networks, while exporting his talent internationally.
Ranitea (Polynesia): This professional dancer embodies the richness of Polynesian traditions while transmitting her passion to a new generation.
These performers open the doors to their daily lives for us: rehearsals in the studios, performances in the street or on stage, and their activity on social networks. Their artistic approach, without taboos or clichés, offers a modern and universal vision of Overseas Territories. Between cultural roots and urban influences, their dance is a strong and authentic voice.
Episode 2 of this series, entitled “From Reunion to Martinique”, will take us to discover six new overseas artists and will be broadcast soon on Culturebox.
Don't miss this unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the vibrant world of overseas dance, where tradition meets modernity to create a fascinating harmony.
