The singer had already released a first album in 2011 and performed in Mayenne as part of the free Summer of 6 Thursdays festival. Steven Jourdan, who had just joined the organizing team of the Tribu association as an intern, remembers: “We programmed artists who could appeal to the general public, but who were little known, a little emerging. » Ben Mazué, who had been spotted by the team of volunteers, “fitted into this line, with this aesthetic of French song brought up to date”.

A free concert in front of 1,500 people

He performed in front of around 1,500 people on Place Clemenceau. A free concert, thanks to various public subsidies and private sponsorship. “As I remember it was full. He managed to unite everyone,” assures Steven Jourdan who keeps a “very good memory” of this moment.

He has since had the opportunity to see him again several times. “and he’s still great.” For Steven Jourdan, emerging scenes and small events are “a stage in the career of artists who often find themselves on the stages of the biggest festivals in the same area, ten or fifteen years later”. Thirteen years after this concert in Mayenne, Ben Mazué is one of the headliners of the 2025 edition of Au Foin de la rue, in Saint-Denis-de-Gastines (Mayenne).
