On the night of Saturday December 28 to Sunday December 29, police officers from the BAC (anti-crime brigade) in Marseille were targeted by three armed individuals. While fleeing, the latter shot at the brigadiers before being arrested and taken into custody.

A Marseille BAC team was the target of fire on the night of December 28 to 29. The events took place around 1 a.m., in Pennes-Mirabeau, on the edge of the 16th arrondissement of Marseille.
Police say they have identified a stolen car. “In the vehicle, three individuals fled and fired at the police with a long weapon”indicates the police prefect of Bouches-du-Rhône in a post on X.
The three attackers, young people aged no more than twenty years old and unfavorably known to the police according to BFM Marseille, refused to comply with the police's announcement. They then embark on a chase through the streets of Marseille, taking “all risks and failing to repeatedly hit street furniture as well as vehicles in circulation”, indicates a police source.
This same source specifies during the run of the three individuals having observed a “cannon pointed in their direction” and heard “detonations”. On 16th, avenue Fernand Sardou, rue Albert Cohen, boulevard Roger Chieusse, 15th, chemin du Cap Janet, then on 14th, … the attackers ended their journey at Saint-Joseph station, a dead end.
Two were arrested and the third fled on foot before being arrested in turn. The police declare in their communication to have been “backed by reinforcements”, in order to carry out this operation. No injuries were reported.
Armed criminals are taken into custody. The firearm, thrown away just before the vehicle stopped its progress, was found.
Our colleagues from La Provence indicate that an investigation has been opened by the Marseille prosecutor's office. It was entrusted to police officers from the Territorial Crime Division (DCT) in order to clarify, among other things, the motivations of the commando.
