After 30 years of activity, the JzèbeSaint-Maurice youth center, will close its doors at the end of the year. Faced with changing needs, the municipality is considering new solutions to support its youth.
La Dzèbe, Saint-Maurice youth center, will permanently close its doors on Monday, after 30 years of existence. Formed as an association in 1994, then communalized in 2020, it offered a secure place to encourage meetings and participation of young people from the age of 7. But faced with the changing expectations of the target audience, adolescents, the municipality has decided to reorient its priorities. She is in contact with other cities to draw inspiration from their solutions, in particular the hiring of an outside social worker. This model would make it possible to support young people in public spaces and maintain a link with adolescents. At the microphone of Julie Gay, the municipal official in charge of social affairs returned to the reasons for this closure. Evelyne Saillen:
In parallel with municipal discussions, young people from the region are working on the creation of a youth association. A future meeting with the municipality will allow us to see the birth of new Valais youth.
