A serious incident took place this Saturday, December 28 in Maurepas, in Yvelines. Two teenagers aged 16 and 17 threatened a pregnant woman with a screwdriver to steal her car in a store parking lot. After a chase with the police, they were arrested, but two police officers were slightly injured during the intervention.
Pregnant woman threatened in parking lot
The attack occurred early in the afternoon in the parking lot of the Centrakor brand, in Maurepas. The two teenagers approached their victim, a pregnant woman, and threatened her with a screwdriver to force her out of her vehicle, a Volkswagen Polo GTI.
Under duress, the mother-to-be had to abandon her car, but fortunately, she was not injured. The two attackers fled behind the wheel of the stolen vehicle.
A high-speed chase
Alerted, the police immediately began searching for the car. This was spotted on the RN10, triggering a chase.
During their escape, the two teenagers collided with a police vehicle, lightly injuring an officer who suffered from back and neck pain.
The race ended at the entrance to the A12 motorway, where the police managed to stop the car. During the arrest, another police officer was injured in the knee.
Suspects arrested and placed in police custody
The two minors were arrested and taken into police custody. The investigation will have to determine the precise circumstances of this act as well as their motivations.
An incident that sparks outrage
This event once again highlights the increase in violent acts involving minors. The courage of the victim, who managed to report the facts quickly, as well as the rapid intervention of the police, made it possible to avoid even more serious consequences.
The two injured police officers received treatment and are out of danger, while the minors should be brought before a judge to answer for their actions.
An episode which shocks and calls into question the safety of citizens in public places and the need to strengthen the fight against juvenile delinquency.
