To the delight of his audience, Renaud made his big return to the stage with his tour In my ropes. The opportunity for Cerise's husband alongside his talented musicians to cover his most beautiful compositions, like Mistral Winner, My Girl or even The Words which continue to thrill music lovers to this day. At the age of 72, the sacred monster of French song has proven to everyone that he still has energy to spare! Although he had given up alcohol and cigarettes, many were concerned about his health and wondered if he would be able to keep up with his 131 dates for two years… Something he succeeded brilliantly.
Ignoring the criticism, Renaud is happy to have been able to satisfy his admirers from all over France and elsewhere, as he reported during an interview with ParisianDecember 23, 2024. Naturally, the artist delved into his memories… In addition to evoking one of the worst which particularly marked him. “When I got kicked off the plane because I was vaping“, admitted the person concerned. “I was going to sing in Canada when they landed me. The team left without me and without Cerise“.
Renaud with an open heart on his big tour
Strong moments, the famous singer has them experienced countless times in recent months. His greatest pride? That his fans were constantly there. “As for me, the stage makes me live and inactivity kills me. I thank my fans who are always there“, added Renaud who sometimes feared getting sick. “I was afraid of catching bronchitis, sore throat or the flu, but I've never had one in fifty years.“.
His watchword now? Take care if necessary. “I had a little bronchitis, I had to cancel two dates, that had never happened to me“, added the happy father of two children. “I gave up alcohol three and a half years ago and cigarettes a year and nine months ago. I smoke one cigarette a month. The next one is January 10“. After this particularly intense tour, Renaud will take a well-deserved break before embarking on writing his new and 17th album, which he hopes to release in 2026.
