Prince George replaced Prince Harry for a very special tradition

Like father, like son. THE prince George and the prince William are big fans of football. This year, they both distinguished themselves on the Sandringham football field during the traditional end-of-year match which pits workers from the royal estate against neighboring villagers, according to an article in the Sun dated December 25. A great first for the 11-year-old boy and a final return for the Prince of Wales who had not participated in this sporting event for years. The last time was in 2016 and the son of Lady Diana and of Charles III had played alongside his brother Harry.

Kate Middleton and Queen Camilla, perfectly matched for a symbolic appearance with the royal family

Queen Camilla and Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, left nothing to chance for this all-important family outing.

Prince George thus took his uncle's place on the Sandringham football field. The latter would have been encouraged by close supporters including his mother, Kate Middleton, as well as her sister and brother, Princess Charlotte and the Prince Louis. According to sources from Sunfather and son played together on the blue team. Prince William almost scored a goal while Prince George had a good time on the pitch. The atmosphere was festive and the spectators were delighted that the princely duo had joined the game after years of absence. An eyewitness reportedly told the British magazine that it “felt like a simple, healthy father-son bonding moment” and that it was “interesting to see that Harry has now been replaced by Prince George.”

For several years, Princes William and Harry had never missed the end of year match at Sandringham. In 2015, the brothers broke with tradition and played on the same team. That year, around 200 spectators supported the princes' team and they won the match hands down (4-1). In all likelihood, the pair played their last match at Sandringham in 2016.
