Dakar, Dec 27 (APS) – The local national football team of Senegal receives Liberia on Saturday in the return match of the second round of qualifiers for the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN), with the ambition of validating its ticket for this competition.
Senegal, which drew from its trip to Monrovia last week, 1-1, can count on the reinforcement of two new players, including the defender of Dakar Sacré-Cœur, Daouda Ba.
The coach of the local Lions also called on Moussa Diallo from Wally Daan to revitalize an attack which at times lacked inspiration and accuracy in the last gesture.
The local Lions, title holders, can also count on the contribution of the public and improve the point they brought back from Monrovia, by validating their ticket for the CHAN 2025 scheduled from February 1 to 28 in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
The Liberian team, for its part, has arguments to make thinking of the victory it won at the expense of Senegal, 2-1, during the CHAN 2023 qualifiers. Except that its confrontation on Saturday against the Lions is held in a completely different context.
Ivory Coast, Guinea, Mauritania, Sudan, South Sudan, Madagascar, Cameroon, Angola and Zambia have taken a serious option for qualification for the African Nations Championship (CHAN), thanks to their success in the first leg of the second round of the qualifiers for this competition reserved for local players.
Tunisia, Libya and Morocco are already qualified for this edition, without having to compete in the qualifying phases. They inherited the three places reserved for the North Africa zone, following the refusal of Algeria and Egypt to participate in the competition.
