Coincidence of the calendar or sign of a trend, two projects that matter for Movelier’s economy were published two weeks in a row in the Official Journal. The first is the expansion of the Blank garage; the second that of the Broquet-Leuenberger Association store.
A garage in this village in the Haut-Plateau, which one might think is very quiet, is already striking. But a growing garage raises even more questions. Not really, according to Jérôme Blank, who took over the reins of the family business in February 2022, following the death of his dad Frédy, a local personality. “We have a large portfolio of customers, in the Jura region and the Bernese Jura, but also in German-speaking Switzerland, in Laufonnais and in Basel,” he points out.
Frédy, the secret of success
According to the resident of Movelier, it was his dad who was the secret to the prosperity of the business, “a man who had a very helpful mentality and went beyond the usual framework”. Frédy Blank knew how to pass on his business acumen to his family.
The garage, which has eight full-time equivalent jobs (FTE), is expanding because it is cramped in its current premises, indicates Jérôme Blank. It is also about supporting its development. The project includes the construction of an exhibition hall which will be able to accommodate around fifteen vehicles, the development of additional offices, a cafeteria and a storage area for wheels. A large terrace will also be created on the roof of the exhibition hall. “We want to offer a more pleasant setting and welcome to our customers,” declares the boss.
