A ten-kilometer traffic jam formed early Friday afternoon in front of the north portal of the Gotthard, heading south. Waiting time was approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes.

The slowdown in traffic between Erstfeld (UR) and Göschenen (UR) was linked to a traffic overload, according to information from the Touring Club Suisse (TCS) on X. Veres 11 a.m., the traffic jam between Wassen and Göschenen in the canton of Uri only reached one kilometer.

The Federal Roads Office (FEDRO) had warned of a traffic overload during the end-of-year holidays. The SBB has also put more trains into service on main routes and to popular snow holiday destinations.
