Decathlon Montpellier Odysseum is accused by the Paz association of still selling live crabs. These animals are used for live fishing, a practice considered cruel.

Laurence Hay, president of PAZ, explains: “We had obtained the withdrawal of aquariums in 2023, which was a victory. But Decathlon continues to sell live crabs in trays. This is unacceptable.”

As a reminder, live fishing involves using live animals as bait. The crabs are pierced by hooks before being thrown into the water. “These animals can suffer for hours. It’s not leisure, it’s torture”said Amandine Sanvisens, co-founder of Paz.

In July 2023, Paz launched a petition against this practice. It obtained more than 29,000 signatures. “This shows that many people are shocked by this cruelty”add Laurence Hay.

Paz hopes that his actions will change the brand's practices. She also wants to raise public awareness of the suffering of animals linked to live fishing.
