Dakar, Dec 26 (APS) – The Jaraaf of Dakar will appeal its suspension behind closed doors of four matches including two suspended in interclub competition, by the disciplinary body of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), announced his administrative secretary, Léonard Diagne.
“We are going to appeal,” he said in an interview with Radio Futurs Médias (RFM, private).
The disciplinary body of the Confederation of African Football announces that it has condemned Jaraaf to play four matches in interclub competition behind closed doors.
This sanction comes after the incidents that occurred at the Abdoulaye Wade stadium during a match between the Senegalese club and its Algerian counterpart, USMA of Algiers.
Jaraaf also faces a monetary fine of approximately 31.5 million CFA francs ($50,000), half of which will be canceled in the event of no incident in the same period, we learned from of the Dakar club.
The administrative secretary of Jaraaf described this sanction as “unjust and scandalous”.
Last December 8, during the Jaraaf-USMA meeting in Algiers counting for the second day of the group stage of the CAF Cup, incidents occurred at the end of the meeting between the supporters of the two teams.
Significant material damage was noted in the stands and locker rooms.
The representative of Senegal is thus sanctioned with four matches behind closed doors in interclub competition, two of which are suspended, but which will only be applied in the event of a repeat offense in the next 12 months.
Currently third in its group, Jaraaf will host Opera United FC from Botswana in early January.
