FC Nantes dominated Drancy (0-4) this Saturday in the 32nd finals of the Coupe de France. Here are the three reasons for satisfaction of the Canaries coach, Antoine Kombouaré, after this match.
Kombouaré does not seem to be let go by his players
While this meeting could be the last contested by Antoine Kombouaré on the bench of FC Nantes, the Nantes leaders still looking for a successor to Kanak, we saw this Saturday a combative, serious and diligent FCN team. The Canaries therefore did not show the face of a team which was in the process of letting go of its coach. At least on the ground.
Abline was on fire
Once again established at the forefront of the Nantes attack by Antoine Kombouaré, Matthis Abline was the best Canary of the match. Very strong and in all the good offensive shots of the FCN, the former Rennais offered himself a double with two similar strikes, finding the small net of the Drancy goalkeeper each time.
New clean sheet for Carlgren
For the second time since his induction as starter, Patrick Carlgren signed a clean sheet. The Swedish goalkeeper didn't have much to do but he did it well, notably making a miraculous save from a point-blank header from Idris Kadded in the first half. It is not with this performance from the former Randers goalkeeper that Alban Lafont will regain his place in the Nantes cages.
