Laurent Gautier succeeds Jean-François Oneto as president of Portes Briardes

This is the logical consequence of the conviction of Jean-François Oneto. A new president has been elected at the head of the community of communes of Briarde gates between towns and forests* in Seine-et-Marne. As a reminder, the historic president of the intercommunality (he was president since its creation in 2010, editor’s note) has been sentenced in October 2024 in the sprawling so-called “France Pierre” affair.

Two years firm

The 73 year old man was sentenced to four years in prison (adjustable), including two years, for having favored the establishment of real estate projects led by France Pierre in his commune in exchange for sums of money. In addition to this sentence, the elected official saw his residence in Corsica also seized by the courts. The court also requested a fine of 375 000 euros (basically, the courts asked him to pay a fine of one million euros, editor’s note). Finally, the first councilor was found to be ineligible and deprived of his civil rights for a period of five years, “with provisional execution”, understand with immediate effect, even in the event of an appeal.

Elected with 31 votes

Dispossessed of his chair as mayor of Ozoir-la-Ferrière which he had occupied since 2001 on December 6, Jean-François Oneto therefore lost the presidency of the intercommunality this December 17, 2024. And it is Laurent Gautier who received the favor of community councilors, collecting 31 votes out of 38. A new role that he will take on in addition to his mandate as mayor of Tournan-en-Brie and departmental councilor.
