The 15 pieces of equipment that make up the Montplaisir fitness trail are all renewed, as well as the signage. This operation carried out by the town hall aims to give new youth and more attractiveness to this circuit already very popular with all Narbonne residents.
More than a kilometer of circuit in the countryside with a breathtaking view of the Bages pond for the adult course, and a little less distance for the junior course: the sports walk and its fifteen apparatuses in the heart of the Montplaisir park are very popular among Narbonnais. To satisfy this enthusiasm and keep pace with evolving sporting practices, the town hall is carrying out the complete rehabilitation of the fitness trail.
Timeless or state-of-the-art equipment
The work began in November and the City is investing €103,000 in this operation. “We are renewing all the equipment that was very worn. Each one will be associated with a QR code and a pictogram to understand how to use it without injuring yourself,” explains Alain Vico, 2e deputy mayor responsible in particular for sustainable development and landscapes.
Montplaisir has always been a place to come and get some fresh air
Among the sports equipment, we include “three warm-up stations, as well as traditional stations like curl bars, rings, push-ups, pull-ups or hanging ladder.” Four more unusual apparatuses are also made available to the public. “like the undulating rope to work on your cardio, or a deadlift cage to exercise almost the entire upper body and in particular the back, thighs and buttocks. Or even a ball throwing wall to work the upper body To finish strengthening the upper body, two obstacle walls with net and rope are also available.
A place to stroll for the people of Narbonne
Please note that throughout the circuit, “the trees have been secured and pruned.” The City wants to make it even more accessible “the intra-urban green lung that is Montplaisir Park. Indeed, even if you are not a fan of sports, the place is very popular with all residents and has many walking paths.” Without forgetting the astronomical observatory, the children's play area, the synthetic stadium and of course the castle in which the people of Narbonne organize and celebrate all kinds of events. “Montplaisir has always been a place to come and get some fresh air, especially after the holidays,” notes Alain Vico.
Moreover, along the paths lined with pines and rosemary, it is not Guillaume, 46 years old, native of Narbonne, who will say the opposite. “It's a very good thing that the City maintains the Montplaisir sports course. I've been going there for 40 years. When I was a child, I came for walks with my father. Now, I always come with my father, but also with my son. He tries all the sports equipment like I did when I was little, and now it's me who watches him do it!
The new version of the fitness trail will be fully delivered in mid-January 2025.
