World Juniors: Canada will present a terrifying numerical advantage

The World Junior Championship gets underway on Thursday, and Junior Team Canada is looking to bounce back after finishing fifth last year.

And to do this, the Unifolié will be able to count on a numerical advantage which will probably wreak havoc. If the first unit has excellent players such as Easton Cowan or Bradly Nadeau, it is especially the second wave which risks making fans' eyes widen.

With defender Matthew Schaefer, forwards Gavin McKenna, Berkly Catton, Brayden Yager and Porter Martone, this unit possibly has two future first picks overall with the first two mentioned.

Schaefer could be the one called first in the National Hockey League draft in 2025. McKenna, for his part, will undoubtedly be the best player of his class in 2026. But that's not all: Berkly Catton was selected eighth overall in the most recent auction by the Seattle Kraken, while Brayden Yager is also a first-round pick (14th overall in 2023).

Finally, Porter Martone, who is also expected to be among the first five players in the 2025 draft, will take advantage of his imposing physique to disturb the goalkeeper's view in front of the goal.

As a reminder, Canada will begin the competition against Finland.
