They know people in very precarious circumstances well and take turns every evening to offer them a hot meal. And if Saint-Vincent-de-Paul was retained elsewhere, the four other associations of Vannes (Morbihan) – The Red Cross, We want the sun, the Order of Malta and the Protestant family association – pitched in dough to offer, Sunday December 22, 2024, a meal to these men and women who live on the street. A great first.
In Ménimur, in the Henri-Matisse room, made available free of charge by the town hall, tables were set up for the forty homeless people who responded. “These are people we meet during marauding, during which we distribute 70 to 80 meals,” specifies Rozenn Chapelain, secretary of the We want the sun association.
A party menu
Salmon cake, turkey supreme with morels, frozen log: the little hands have concocted a festive menu, served on the plate. The meal was hosted by Hocine Hadjali, who came with his guitar to perform his own compositions, French, Berber and Kabyle, and the ventriloquist Franck, accompanied by his puppet Momo the monkey and his “clownettes”.
“When we unite, we are stronger” underlines a Red Cross volunteer. This is confirmed by Guillaume de Pampelonne, departmental delegate of the Order of Malta, indicating that he is “just there in support, to help, because we have reactivated the solidarity branch since March 2024”.
A beautiful communion between the different associations for the benefit of the most precarious, of which the volunteers can be proud.
