This Sunday, December 22, at the Kercado neighborhood center, the Mahoraise association of -Ylang organized a collection of donations for the inhabitants of the island which was devastated on December 14. A state of natural disaster was declared for the implementation of exceptional resources. Started at 2 p.m., the collection has already seen the arrival of the first donors.

Seven people brought back water, clothes and even hygiene products. “We hope that the donations arrive quickly,” underlines René, who came to write a check for the association. Véronique and Charlotte, mother and daughter, brought clothes and hygiene products. “We put ourselves in their place,” adds Véronique. “This is the first time I have participated in a donation drive. I have the impression that the mobilization of the State is taking a long time to take place,” remarks Hélène, who brought baby clothes. There was a total of 2450 euros in financial donations

Children welcomed in

The Mahorais association of Vannes was able to meet this Saturday with elected officials from and the Mahorais association of Lorient where the mobilization is taking place, in particular the coming of Mahorais children to Lorient to continue their studies. Breton families will be able to welcome children. The Vannes association received a lot of support and collected emails from donors in order to keep them informed of upcoming needs for Mayotte. Financial donations should be given to organizations such as the Mayotte Red Cross or Civil Protection. As a reminder, these are tax-free at 75% and up to 1,000 euros.
