Grand invests €800,000 for the treatment of green waste

The new green waste compaction area, located at the entrance to the Balarucs area and with an area of ​​5 000 m², accommodates two 30 m compactors in its center3 each one which allows treat 10 tonnes of green waste per day.

The investment of this compaction area, in the amount of 800 000 euros including 120 000 euros for the acquisition of two boxesserves exclusively the Caumontois, but eventually the platform should open to other residents of Greater . The plants, once compacted, are transported to the crushing and composting site at Châteaurenard, in Bouches-du-Rhône.

Treating green waste, one of the major challenges of Greater Avignon

Waste management is a major concern of Greater Avignon which places the optimization of collection, recycling and recovery among the priority economic and environmental issues.

The new compaction area is described as great opportunity for a region that lacks recycling spaces according to a diagnosis established in 2018. The environment department of the Greater Avignon urban community is constantly looking for land to install such facilities, included in the overall plan of the community's waste disposal network.
