An aerial view allows you to admire the renovation of the two front towers

One of the last monuments of the feudal period in Burgundian Bresse is located in a small Bresse commune, an imposing building which sits on a hill outside the village, opposite the church and the cemetery. One of the particularities is located at the level of the four towers, one of which is higher than the others.

The Longeville family became the owners of the castle, three children, two brothers Augustin and Stanilas and sister Violaine, began work several years ago. Procedures, finding qualified craftsmen, grant requests from communities or organizations, the DRAC (regional directorate of cultural affairs) make it possible to obtain financial aid to help the owners of castles or other listed houses to renovate and maintain a heritage historical.

In 2003, the first major structural and roofing works began on the main building, in 2005 the tallest tower, 41 meters high, was completely renovated. In 2023, a major project began with the renovation of the two front towers of the castle with a team of architects specializing in the renovation of heritage in Saône-et-, a project which required many hours of work to redo the plans original structure of the towers. It was also necessary to find competent craftsmen who reused wood recovered from old frames wherever possible.

The work was completed at a cost of €417,000; aid from the departmental council and the Drac helped the family continue the renovation of the castle. In a few months, the renovation of the residential part is planned. During heritage days each year, the gates of the castle are open to allow the public to discover these four imposing towers which surround the main building. While waiting for this date, a small detour is worth the trip to admire a building in the heart of Bresse.
