Despite the uncertainty surrounding the next coach of FC Nantes, Nantes leaders already seem to be planning the winter transfer window. According to information from L'Équipe, the club on the banks of the Erdre plans to strengthen its position in three positions : a central defender, a defensive midfielder and a reinforcement on the right side. This recruitment strategy comes after the DNCG lifted the supervision of the FCN payroll.
A limited budget for reinforcements
Although FC Nantes, currently 14th in Ligue 1, now has more financial flexibility, the resources allocated for this winter transfer window will remain limited. Managers will therefore need to demonstrate creativity and insight in their recruitment choices.
Any departures planned?
Alongside potential arrivals, FC Nantes could also see some players leave the ship. Jean-Philippe Gbamin and Ignatius Ganagorespectively followed by CSKA Moscow and New England Revolution, could potentially leave. These departures would not only free up payroll, but also open up places in the squad for new recruits.
A crucial market
This winter transfer window therefore promises to be crucial for FC Nantes. The targeted reinforcements must provide defensive solidity and offensive support on the sidestwo crucial aspects for a team aiming to remain in Ligue 1. It remains to be seen if the managers will manage to realize their plans despite a tight budget, and if the possible future coach will validate these recruitment choices.
