A man and a woman were arrested on Tuesday in connection with the house that was riddled with bullets in Port-Daniel–Gascons, in Gaspésie, on November 24.
Réjean Couturier, 49, and Jessica Forest, 39, were both apprehended in the parking lot of a New Richmond business.
Searches were also carried out in a car and a residence on rue des Cèdres in the same municipality, indicates the Sûreté du Québec in a press release.
The police notably seized three firearms, high-capacity magazines and prohibited weapons such as daggers and electric shock weapons.
They also got their hands on 500 methamphetamine tablets, illicit tobacco and equipment used for resale.
Comparutions
Remember that shots were fired at a residence in the area of Route 132, not far from Mercier Road, on November 24. No one was injured in the attack and the suspects fled before police arrived.
However, it was not a house targeted at random, given that the owner was known to police circles.
Réjean Couturier was ultimately charged with discharging prohibited firearms, breaking and entering, possession of a prohibited firearm without a license, disguising himself with criminal intent and breach of probation and condition.
He also faced charges related to drug trafficking. The 49-year-old remained in custody until his return to court on Thursday.
For her part, Jessica Forest was charged with possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking and possession of prohibited weapons. The 39-year-old woman was released pending further proceedings.
