Launched in March 2022, the project was to be completed by the summer of 2024, as announced by the City. SOFICO, the project owner, indicated yesterday that the overall completion of the project was currently planned for summer 2025, a year late.

As a reminder, this concerns the development of the E25/A25 motorway between the Monsin bridge-dam and the Atlas bridge into an urban boulevard, also creating access to the Bressoux multimodal zone. This project, which is fully integrated into the PUM (Urban Mobility Plan) of the Liège metropolitan area, should make it possible to ease motorized mobility, provide an infrastructure dedicated to soft modes and green the area.

Since last June, it has been possible to travel in the new hopper (which will connect the E25/A25 motorway to Avenue de Jupille on the surface). On the surface, the objective is to make it roadworthy during the month of January. “It will therefore be possible, coming from the motorway, to connect Avenue de Jupille. It will also be possible, from avenue de Jupille, to head towards Liège. However, it should be noted that in February, for 3 weeks, these surface movements will no longer be possible due to work carried out by RESA as part of the construction site and the development of the islands carried out on this occasion. The lanes of the urban boulevard will be gradually freed from the end of December 2024, as well as during the month of January, depending on weather conditions“, specifies SOFICO.

Thus, the last modifications to the traffic conditions near the shops on the Monsin side will be lifted, the second lane towards Visé which currently uses the hopper will be brought to the surface (final configuration of the hopper = 1 lane towards Liège and 1 lane towards Visé). Operations will then focus in 2025 on the cycle-pedestrian development on the Meuse side between Monsin and Avenue de Jupille and will include major RESA works.

The Monsin access towards Liège will remain closed until the end of March 2025. Finally, a few nights of closure will be necessary in 2025 to install signaling gantries. The overall completion of the project is therefore planned for summer 2025.
