A new meeting
Le Mans University organizes its summer university every year open to teachers and students to exchange, share and develop teaching methods.
To maintain the dynamic around educational innovation and its challenges, the university invites all people with training, teaching or support missions at their winter university.
“Let’s dispel preconceived ideas about learning!”
Workshops, discussions and conferences follow one another, culminating in the intervention of Steve Masson and his work linking brain activity and learning.
The program
Opening at 9:30 a.m. then at 10 a.m. introduction by Sylvain Durandvice-president of Training and University Life at Le Mans University.

Holder of a doctorate in computer science from the University of Montreal and having completed a postdoc in cognitive and educational psychology at McGill University in Canada, Emmanuel Blanchard is currently a teacher-researcher at Le Mans University and an assistant professor in the department of surgery at McGill University. Sour main research area is Artificial Intelligence for Education (in the broad sense) and its work focuses on taking into account human factors (cognition, motivation, emotions, physiology, culture) in the development of adaptive technologies for learning and training.

Understanding the brain to learn better
Conference, from 12:15 p.m. to 1:45 p.m.
In recent years, knowledge of the human brain has progressed considerably. We know today that, to learn new things, the brain must change. These brain changes are influenced by a range of factors. Understanding these factors better can help you choose more effective study and learning strategies. During this presentation, we will see three principles that can help make studying and learning better suited to brain function.
Biography: Steve Masson is a professor at the University of Quebec in Montreal and co-director of the Neuroeducation Research Laboratory. Using functional magnetic resonance imaging, he studies brain mechanisms linked to learning and teaching. He published the books “ Activate your neurons: to better learn and teach » et « Developing skills: how to use your brain better » by Éditions Odile Jacob.
Learning disorders (ADHD, multi dys) by Laïli Dor
Atelierfrom 2:15 pm to 2:45 pm.
Inclusion referent at Le Mans University and teacher-researcher in the English department of the UFR LLSH, she will offer an awareness workshop on different disorders impacting learning. A first part of the workshop will be devoted to identifying the difficulties that students with disabilities may encounter based on online simulators or feedback. The second part will aim to reflect on good practices that facilitate the learning of these students.
