From this Friday, motorists will no longer be able to access Place d’Alger during the night. This decision marks a turning point for night-time travel in , with restrictions now in force every day of the week.

An extension of nighttime restrictions

According to 20 Minutes, the terminals installed in May 2023 around Place d’Alger already limited access to vehicles on the nights of Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Starting this Friday, their use will be generalized throughout the night, from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

This measure, which concerns the streets leading to Place d’Alger, in particular rue du Port, rue de la Halle aux Toiles, rue d’Arcole and rue du Docteur Leroy, was taken to respond to the concerns of local residents. , particularly affected by nighttime noise pollution.

A response to the expectations of local residents

Initially adopted on an experimental basis, the access restriction quickly gained unanimous support from residents. The mayor of Le Mans underlined the favorable reception of this initiative: “The feedback on this measure is very positive and appreciated by local residents”.
