This new session will focus on bilateral relations as well as the positions of the two countries on issues of common interest, noted Mr. Bourita, recalling in this sense the High Royal Guidelines aimed at diversifying the partnerships of the Morocco and to develop its cooperative relations with “serious and credible” countries, like the Chili“. This political and strategic dialogue will be an opportunity to address issues relating to the Arab world and the African continent, where Morocco can establish itself as a solid partner for Chile, he noted, assuring that the two countries will work also to the reactivation of the Joint Bilateral Trade and Investment Committee.
The Minister of Foreign Relations of the Republic of Chile, Alberto Van Klaveren Stork, reiterated, Wednesday, “Chile’s constant support for the process led by the United Nations with a view to a just, pragmatic, lasting, realistic, viable solution, definitive and mutually acceptable to the question of Western Sahara, within the framework of the initiative presented by Morocco to the United Nations in April 2007.
According to Mr. Bourita, the reactivation of this Committee will make it possible to examine ways of strengthening trade between the two countries, “which remain below their ambitions”, estimating that this mechanism can play a decisive role in the identification of difficulties to overcome. In addition, the minister highlighted the significant investment potential available to the Morocco and the Chilistressing that the Kingdom could be a gateway to Africa for Chile, which could also be a gateway to Morocco in South America. The two parties, he continued, are committed to promoting communication between ministerial departments in key areas such as agriculture, tourism, energy and maritime transport, through exchange visits and the organization of videoconferences with a view to exploring cooperation opportunities.
Mr. Bourita indicated that the two countries had decided to coordinate their efforts in the field of multilateral cooperation, noting that the Chili has always advocated solid multilateral diplomacy, at the UN and within regional organizations, the Human Rights Council and UN agencies. Rabat and Santiago, he continued, share similar visions and can work together as partners convinced that UN action, multilateralism and cooperation constitute the basis for resolving regional and international problems and meet environmental and migration challenges and those of the fight against terrorism and organized crime.
On the other hand, Mr. Bourita said that the two parties had signed a joint declaration covering a set of issues and common positions, affirming that Morocco welcomed the constructive and positive positions of Chile on the issue of Moroccan Sahara. He added that the relationships Morocco-Chile were based on solid foundations, mutual respect and fruitful cooperation, noting that Chile, endowed with solid diplomacy, influence and an audible voice in the context of the important transformations experienced by this region, was considered a key country for the Kingdom in Latin America. The minister insisted on Morocco’s interest in consultation with Chile on current issues and events in Latin America, given the particular attention that HM King Mohammed VI pays to the Kingdom’s relations with the countries of this continent, based on historical, linguistic and economic links.
Strengthening bilateral relations at the center of talks between Rachid Talbi Alami and the President of the Chamber of Deputies of Chile
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rachid Talbi Alamihad, Wednesday in Rabat, meetings with the president of the Chamber of Deputies of Chile, Karol Cariolafocusing in particular on ways to strengthen relations between the two Chambers. During this meeting, the two parties discussed relations between the two countries as well as their common points and the values uniting them, indicates a press release from the House of Representatives.
Discussions between the two parties also focused on the major projects launched by Morocco, under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, as well as the development dynamic characterizing the southern provinces of the Kingdom. The talks also focused on relations between the House of Representatives of Morocco and the Chamber of Deputies of Chile, as well as ways to strengthen them through the exchange of visits, experiences and parliamentary expertise, and through the Intensification of communication and coordination within the various regional and international parliamentary forums, with constant respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of States, as well as the principle of non-interference in their internal affairs.
This meeting, in which Tomás de Rementeria Venegas, member of the Chamber of Deputies, and Alberto Alejandro Rodriguez Aspillaga, ambassador of the Republic of Chile in Rabat, took part on the Chilean side, was an opportunity to exchange points of view on several matters of common parliamentary interest. Currently on a working visit to Morocco, Ms. Cariola is participating in the work of the Congress of the Future (December 17-18), organized by the Moroccan Parliament with its two Chambers, in collaboration with the “Fondation des Rencontres du futur”, the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate of the Republic of Chile.
