Work is underway on a pipeline on rue de Charlieu, this Thursday, December 19.
On Wednesday, around 10 p.m., one of the structural pipes of the network, which carries water from the Renaison dam, experienced damage. This led to a strong reduction, or even an absence, of flow in the town of Roanne and that of Mably, until around 11:30 p.m.
Quickly alerted, the Roannaise of water began its intervention near the Gouttenoire butchery, to allow water supplies to be largely restored in the middle of the night.
On this morning of December 19, the areas of rue de Charlieu, rue Jean-Baptiste-Clément and boulevard de la Liberté are still deprived of water. A problem which should be resolved during the day, according to Gaylord Michaud, operations director of Roannaise de l’eau. He adds that the teams “were mobilized all night”.
Causes and consequences
This damage may be linked to various factors, notably the change in temperature, which caused the water to cool. The age of the pipe and its location may also have played a role.
If, in your home, the water flows with a particularly whitish or colored color, don’t worry: the water remains drinkable. The phenomenon is linked to the works. Just let it flow for a few moments if necessary.
Rue de Charlieu will remain closed until Friday, December 20, in the evening, in the Roanne-Charlieu direction, because of the works. A detour is planned via Boulevard Edgar-Quinet.
