A period of continuation of activity is granted until December 20 to Saint Charles & Co by the commercial court of Roanne which pronounced its liquidation14 months after the opening of a judicial recovery procedure. After which the last 11 employees and two sales representatives will be made redundant.
Saint Charles & Co had moved to reduce its expenses
No buyer has come forward to take over the company acquired in the fall of 2019 by Gilles Bianco, the former financial manager of the company when it was called Rodam. A year ago, the new manager wanted to be confident because the VSE had filled its order book.
The recovery period, however, did not make it possible to resolve the tensions that appeared on the cash of the company which had moved to Roanne at the end of 2022. In premises of 700 square meters, smaller than those it left in Riorges in order to reduce its costs.
Decline in the craze for “made in France”
Gilles Bianco regretted the impossibility for his company, the vast majority of whose production was carried out internally, to benefit from public aid. And he notes a decline among customers in the craze, which has emerged in recent years, in favor of “made in France”.
The manager of Saint Charles & Co, specialized in knitting of knitted items (jacquards, intarsia, plain) sold in multi-brand boutiques in France also considers itself a victim of the growing appeal of online sale among the younger generations.
